General information

EyeHarp is the first musical instrument that is played with gaze, and allows people with disabilities to learn and play music without barriers. Designed with musicality in mind, EyeHarp offers the same expressive qualities as any traditional instrument.

EyeHarp Association is a non-profit social company. Our mission is to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities, giving them access to all the benefits musical education has to offer (improving language and memory, developing creativity, raising self-esteem, and more).

100% accessible instrument
If you can move your eyes, you can play music. This is the only requirement for playing the EyeHarp. Apart from that, just enjoy, learn, develop your talent, and express yourself.

Inclusivity
EyeHarp users can play any kind of music in orchestras and ensembles, together with other musicians, and even become professional musicians. EyeHarp offers the possibility for professional musicians with reduced mobility to continue their musical career.

Great tool for music therapists
The therapeutic benefits of music are numerous. That is why we want to create a professional certification for music therapists and music teachers, teaching how to use the Eyeharp in the best way for their patients and students.

Social responsibility
EyeHarp Association is a non-profit social company. We want to make music playing accessible to anyone who needs it, and make EyeHarp available at a fair, lowest possible price. The basic version is free, and we offer different purchasing option for the full version.

Description of the project. Main features, strengths and differentials.

As of today, EyeHarp is the only instrument that enables playing music completely with the eyes. It also includes learning tools, which helps users learn music from the very beginning, and improve their technique. It can be adapted to the musical level of each user, and comes with diverse melodies and instrumental sounds.

Our main goal is to make EyeHarp sustainable, and have the funds to maintain and improve the existing software. Also, to create a course for professional users, music therapists and teachers, and teach them how to maximize the capabilities of the EyeHarp for the benefit of their clients and students.

How it works?
Eyeharp musicians only need to install the software and use it with their eye tracker, that is a special camera that monitors eye movements. With these two things, musicians can play beautiful melodies simply by looking at the notes on the screen.

Why this is important

EyeHarp opens the door for helping a group of people who until now did not have access to music education and to high-level musical activity. Playing a musical instrument improves cognitive abilities of the motor, auditory and vision regions of the brain, as well as of language areas. It also improves self-esteem and self-worth, as well as social and interpersonal skills.

EyeHarp was especially designed so those who are diagnosed with conditions such as cerebral palsy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, amputation of an upper limb, or spinal cord injury can learn and enjoy playing music with their eyes. It is also suitable for people with intellectual disabilities.

EyeHarp can be used directly by people with disabilities, as well as by music therapists with their patients, or by music teachers with their students. Eyeharp offes an innovative and revolutionary service for music therapy and music education. This is why we want to organize courses for professional users.
