Sure you're a great parent, but you also need to rest.
To monitor the well-being of your baby, and give you more quiet time we are developing the first prototype of BabyDuino.
Description of the project. Main features, strengths and differentials.
BabyDuino is a baby monitor prototyping kit based on Arduino. Its objective is to provide a tool for monitoring biological data that is important for the welfare of a baby, such as body and environmental temperature, humidity, ... among others. Having this type of information can help identify patterns related to different sleep disorders (apnea), heart disease (related to sudden death),...
BabyDuino read the information through different sensors making the information visible in a mobile application, sending alerts when the data show an irregular behavior, such as elevated temperature, irregular heartbeat, etc..
BabyDuino will be designed to be secure and least intrusive possible.
BabyDuino is an open source project which means that anyone can improve it or adapt it to their needs, and the design of hardware and software will be shared.
BabyDuino is NOT a marketable product, is a prototyping kit, designed to advance in research and development around open hardware monitoring babies and dependents.
For the prototyping process we start from a multidisciplinary technical team. In order to complement our technical knowledge with project requirements, we are seeking collaborations in various fields such as pediatric professionals to help us parametrize the most appropriate values, professionals in the field of industrial design to help us with the packaging, design professionals, users to test it and give us feed back for improvement ...
Why this is important
For over a year four people were working at a garage every Sunday with the idea of learning together and share knowledge around open hardware. In the process a baby joined the group, and changed everything, then begin to take shape BabyDuino.

With BabyDuino we managed to link our passion for team learning with the love for our babies and seeking their welfare.
Who is it for?:
.- For people who want change (expand or adjust) the functions, the idea is to create a learning community from BabyDuino that allows us to implement improvements over time.
.- Researchers, the kit will serve people to design new prototypes to monitor for dependents.
.- Educators, the kit will serve to train from the PBL methodology (project based learning)
Are you a doctor? Are you an engineer? Are you a maker? Are you developer? Are you a designer? Are you a professor? Do you like tinkering? Are you a parent? Feel free to be part of the development community BabyDuino! together we can learn a lot through an innovative project for society.
Goals of the crowdfunding campaign
The main objective is to raise the necessary funds to cover the costs associated with the process of design, production and prototyping the kiit and documentation BabyDuino.
We will develop a website where you can find all the content and useful information related to the project: schematics, manuals, video tutorials, practical examples, links, forums, faqs, etc.
BabyDuino need much knowledge, and in that sense we are working on creating a community around the prototype. The community will be distributed in different platforms such as point of contact: twitter, facebook mainly.
Once we designed and produced the prototype, we will develop the application BabyDuino.
We seek diverse collaborations, starting with health experts to support us from its knowledge with the correct parameterization of the biometric values that determine the health of a baby.
The current BabyDuino team is compose with professionals from different fields and organizations.
Miguel Acosta: Industrial Engineer, his passion is design prototypes, for him BabyDuino is a challenge with which he can learn by solving problems that arise along the way. After an exhausting day at work, when he comes home always finds the time to be with the team or tinkering.
Raul Amo: Computer Engineer, enjoys joining the world of hardware with software. Raul was looking for people to help him on a project related to Arduino, so we were lucky enough to know what was in his head.
Fabian Morales: Artist and Maker, designs and creates interactive systems at Social Sound. Always trying to learn more, understand more, he began to reasearch around the possibilities of Arduino and saw in this project the opportunity to take another step in his knowledge .
Diana Franco: Passionate about human behavior and interaction between people and technology, it is also part of the team of Social Sound. Would love to sleep quiet every night, knowing, without having to disturb her baby, that she breathe well, she have the right temperature, ... with BabyDuino searches that tool.
