General information
The Associació La Font was founded in 2008 in the desire of a group of mothers, fathers, teachers and friends, to promote an educational space for families, educators and children. It is an association for reflection and searching to help us in our task of educating our children and is open to the whole society.
We hope to grow and establish ourselves as a real educational alternative. Earlier this year we moved the school to the Seminary in Vic, where we will be able to obtain the necessary official approval.
Description of the project. Main features, strengths and differentials.
The main activity of the association is to promote an education based on the Waldorf system.
So the Associació La Font was founded with this philosophy:
- Creating a Centre for children from the age of 2, where they can develop their potential with freedom, security and respect, providing them with a healthy and natural experience. This centre is open to all those families who freely wish to offer this kind of education to their children.
In addition, other parallel activities are available:
-
Parents and educators can attend lectures and training courses to improve the education and upbringing of children.
-
Handicraft and art workshops to make toys for our children and to make them together with the children; experiencing the creative process aids personal growth and increases knowledge.
-
Discussions and group-readings with a debate afterwards allows us to reflect on education and the situation and needs of our children in the present moment.
-
Fairs and festivals to present the Association’s activities to other citizens.

Why this is important
The site is for children from the age of 2. At this stage, we aim to create an environment where the child feels safe and protected, and thus, can develop its senses and express itself.
The play area in the classroom mimics a home, but designed on a smaller scale to fit the children. The walls are pastel pink, yellow or orange and there are no bright colors.
The toys are made of natural materials such as wood, cloth, wool or wax. They are usually very simple to encourage imaginative play.
Goals of the crowdfunding campaign
This is the ground-plan for the extension providing a class for the kindergarten children. The new kindergarten classroom is on the ground floor porch of the west wing of the seminar.
According to Royal Decree 132/2010 of 12 February, which regulates the minimum requirements for schools providing 2nd cycle kindergarten, three classes are required for a nursery school that teaches early childhood education , second cycle. At the moment we have now two classrooms and a third is this planned in this project.
Environmentally friendly materials are going to be used; these materials include cork lining for closure panels with OSB-3, wooden frames and cellulose insulation. The classroom will be dry built and will be lightweight, reversible, quick and easy to assemble. These materials do not give off toxic substances.
Team and experience
We are a non-profit association and our main asset are the human qualities and life experiences of all its members. We try to reduce costs by doing many jobs ourselves, divided into work-groups.
The general assembly is the main decision making body of the association. The Board of Directors oversees that everything works and that proposed objectives are fullfilled. Mothers and fathers are members of the Association and periodically take part on the Board of Directors. We all advise and help in the maintenance of the centre and in the organization of the various activities (courses, workshops, fairs, festivals).
The organization of the educational Centre is based on shared responsibility between families and teachers.

Educational training
Our educational project is based on Rudolf Steiner’s work in respecting the natural maturing process of children, according to the evolving stages of human beings. Conducting our activities in contact with nature and social nearest and basing our work on a job well done, we pursue a holistic education that attends to the emotional and intellectual level of our children. -
