    FoldaRap P2P Edition

The most interesting reward of this campaign, also probably the quickest way to have your kit!

All you need to build the lastest version of the FoldaRap, excepted the printed parts.
Find a local reprapper to add them to your kit !

(hint : with probably more than 40 000 machines in the wild, there must be one near you, or we can still have them printed separately)

Winter News !

Dear backers,
Things have not went as we wish they could during the last month, but it's not that bad and for this last long post of the year I have lot of things to tell you about :)

Firstly, for most of you who are still waiting, I'd like to thank you for your patience and comprehension.
As said before our motors have not showed up the last two weeks where I expected them, they should arrive early January... But as you will see, this wait also have some good sides, because during that time we are integrating a few more change to improve the kit or make it easier to assemble :)

  • New Electronic Board
The next FoldaRaps that will be shipped out will have a new electronic board.
While the screw terminals of the Melzi where great for prototyping or shortening the wire lenght without worrying, they made the wiring phase time consuming. And some steps where tricky, like putting the two z-motors in the same terminal, those who've done it know ^^'
The new board will have standard connectors that you just plug in, making the wiring phase much much much quicker (down from 1h to 10min maybe).
It also feature 1/32 drivers, twice the previous microstepping resolution, and should make the movement a little smoother.

  • Documentation
I'm always refining and completing the documentation to adapt it to the latest changes or to add details at some points thanks to the feedback of others.
You'll also find new settings in the github repository, or directly in the wiki (in the user_manual) if you don't want to download the whole github file.

  • Workers
The first picture shows me and 3 occasional helpers while we fill the hardware boxes, from January/mid-January we will have two full-time persons :)

  • Potential
On the second you can see the heatsink-blocks of the hotend, a change we made from the previous ones is to have three M6 holes, in order to put 1 to 3 nozzles (in the same space) if later you want to see your machine evolving of hack it with other ideas ^^
By the way I writed a short post after having met our machinist : http://watsdesign.blogspot.fr/2013/12/behind-foldarap-rencontre-avec-julien.html

  • The last workshop was given during the last week, you can see a short timelapse of it here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdOd4nYvCno

2014 will be an even more kick-ass year, I'm looking forward to share it with you, hopefully with a quick dispatch of all your kits :)
Cheers !

Chers soutiens,
