With the contribution of 10€ you will receive a 3D digital image of bacteria visualized using an atomic force microscope.
With the contribution of 30€ you will get a brief report with the main results obtained in this project and a personal acknowledgment letter. The contribution includes previous rewards. (Note all rewards are digital to avoid increasing Project costs).
With the contribution of 50€ you will receive a poster in electronic format with images, pictures and an explanation of the main results obtained. The poster will include personalized acknowledgments.

Practical seminar on microscopy techniques used for the visualization of the microorganisms on the surface of our materials
Estudiamos la respuesta de nuestros materiales frente al crecimiento bacteriano. Para este estudio hemos seleccionado una cepa de Escherichia Coli (E.Coli) por ser una de las bacterias más comunes. En estas imágenes podéis ver los resultados. En todos los materiales proliferaron bacterias, pero la cantidad de bacterias era significativamente menor en los materiales con un 2% en peso de plata. Las imágenes de la figura muestran micrografías obtenidas por microscopía electrónica de barrido sobre la superficie de polietileno molido y polietileno con 2%Ag después de hacer los cultivos con E.Coli. Se obtuvieron imágenes a distintos aumentos: a 50x(imágenes en la fila superior) y a 6500x(imágenes en la fila inferior).
En general, aunque la proliferación de bacterias no se ha eliminado por completo, podemos decir que hemos conseguido disminuirla. Probablemente trabajando con cantidades más grandes de partículas de plata se consiga disminuir aún más la proliferación de bacterias sobre la superficie de los materiales, pero eso será objeto de otros trabajos futuros. En este trabajo hemos conseguido preparar materiales con propiedades antibacterianas de bajo coste y hemos comprobado que con estos materiales se reduce la proliferación de bacterias en su superficie, que era nuestro principal objetivo.
