General information

These conferences will take place between the months of March and April in A Coruña, Santiago de Compostela, and Vigo (Galicia, Spain), within the framework of the global campaign STOP TTIP. These conferences will focus on the analysis and dissemination of the harmful impact of the free trade agreements (TTIP, TISA, CETA...) on the individuals and biodiversity.

With this initiative we aim to provide the public through various perspectives, and a critical and plural approach, what the approval of free trade agreements will entail. We want people to understand how they will be affected in practice by the implementation of such agreements, and at the same time, what other alternatives could be carried on.

Description of the project. Main features, strengths and differentials.

“Recover sovereignty, disarm TTIP” are several conferences organized by ECOAR))) where the origins, characteristics, consequences, and alternatives to the Free Trade Agreements (TTIP, TISA, CETA…) will be discussed in detail. This is a meeting opened to all citizens.

The conferences comprise a series of four lectures and a videoconference held by experts from various fields, as well as different types of activities (videodebate , lectures, screenings... ) carried out by the different collectives and spaces.

“Recover sovereignty, disarm TTIP” is intended to generate an open area where, in addition to information, people can participate and discuss the Free Trade Agreements and all that surrounds them, especially about the TTIP .

The conferences will also have an open website, where any collective and individual who wishes will be able to register in all events, initiatives and actions that will be performed in relation to the Free Trade Agreement during the dates of the conferences ( 03/26/15 to 04/16/15 ).

Why this is important

The objectives of the “Recover Sovereignty, Disarm TTIP” conferences are: to provide information on the Free Trade Agreements and its consequences for the majority of people, interconnecting individuals and collectives of different areas in the struggle against these treaties, to generate the perception of a problem common to all people, and to generate a self-perception in the population of itself as leverage in the final development these treaties will have.

Besides, the long-term objectives to achieve would be: to generate a positive self-concept of people about themselves as a changing engine, to help build a strong social fabric in the construction of alternative and social response, etc.
