General information

Crisis magazine is a journalistic project founded in Argentina in 1973, distinguished by its quality, the mixture of narratives and its social and political commitment.
Its first period was directed by prestigious writer Eduardo Galeano and lasted only three years, as it had to shut down due to the hostility of the military dictatorship that devastated the country in 1976. Crisis reappeared in the 1980s, as democracy returned, but the several economic crisis prevented its continuity.
Our editorial collective took on the challenge of relaunching the mythical publication in the second decade of the twenty-first century. This time, its rebirth took the form of a journalistic project in different formats and languages, in tune with present times:

  • A website (www.revistacrisis.com.ar) with daily updates

  • Three weekly podcasts:
⇨ Crisis en el aire / Crisis on air: a summary of the most important topics on the national political situation, with the analysis of our editors Ximena Tordini, Natalia Gelós and Mario Santucho.
⇨ Mundo en Crisis / World in Crisis: a trip to global geopolitics, by specialist Marco Terrugi.
⇨ Desinteligencia Artificial / Artificial Unintelligence: cultural critique on books, series and other stuff, presented by Hernán Vanoli and Marcos Zurita.

  • Audiovisual productions in our Youtube channel.

  • The Sunday newsletter Mundo en Crisis / World in Crisis, a weekly selection of news published in the international press, curated by our editor Mario Santucho.

  • Finally, our original and most beautiful product: every two months we publish a printed magazine, which has reached its 58th issue in this third season.

Description of the project. Main features, strengths and differentials.

The international solidarity campaign is aimed at those who value this journalistic experience and want to support the printing of our magazine throughout 2024.
Why do we turn to our friends and followers in the rest of the world?
The current economic situation in our country, marked among other things by our national currency’s devaluation, has caused an irrational increase in paper and printing costs. In this context, most publications have shut down their printed editions, turning exclusively to virtual publishing. We want to avoid this decision at all costs, because we believe it is essential to combine innovation and anachronism, resistance and creation.
By collaborating with whatever you can, you’ll be giving an enormous help so that the heart of this active cultural and political community, which is the printed magazine, continues to beat strongly.

Why this is important

20.000 euros is the total cost of printing five issues of Crisis magazine in a year. Our intention is to sustain the type of reading implied by a printed magazine, less fragmentary and more immersive, which fits the research and reasoning we propose.
We have a significant number of friends and followers around the world and we especially address them on this occasion, because with a small contribution they can give us a decisive boost.
It’s important to clarify that Crisis magazine is sold at the price of its production costs, because we want it to be as accessible as possible. Our journalistic initiative is fundamentally sustained by the contribution and support of those who read and value the work we do.

Team and experience

This is the first international solidarity campaign we launch. We do have experience in calls for entries for residents of Argentina.
We count on a solid and versatile team of editors, writers, photographers, illustrators and specialists, in permanent dialogue with collaborators and readers, with whom we periodically meet to think and debate.
